Aoibhinn O'Dea, Choreographer, Contemporary Dancer, Performer & Artist.

Aoibhinn is a dance artist based in Dublin and Berlin. Her practice begins with collaborative improvisation and is informed by somatic movement and floor work.

 

Her performances explore how human behaviour is affected by social pressures and hierarchy. She graduated with a BA in Fine Art Sculpture  in  the National College of Art & Design in 2014, she then went on to complete her contemporary dance training at Tanzfabrik, Berlin 2020.

 

In Berlin, she founded BLUSH, a collective that merges dance, theatre and circus. She has worked closely with Berlin based choreographer/Sasha Waltz dancer Maria Colusi, who has had a significant influence on her dance practice and professional development. She has choreographed live works such as NORM, Why Knots, Lord Hear Us, Game Changer, NoBody and The World Outside - Performed in Dublin and across Berlin 2020/21. 

 

In Dublin, she collaborates with multidisciplinary artists making new work for the Douglas Hyde Gallery, Photo Ireland, and Dance Ireland. She is passionate about making dance-theatre more accessible to the wider community by teaching workshops and creating public dance performances with a diverse ensemble of participants.
